Forever Foster Program
Give a special-needs or senior equine a loving home for life — we stand behind you with care and support.
About the Program
The Forever Foster program differs from our regular fosters in a few different ways. Animals that enter this program are those who are at an extremely high risk of being neglected or ending up at an auction if adopted out into the public (due to age/needing medical maintenance). While the amount of time could vary from months to years, the goal of this program will be to allow these animals to be loved and cared for by families out in the real world, while being supported by Mules N More Rescue and Rehab until they no longer have a good quality of life and can be laid to rest. With the help of donations, Mules N More Rescue and Rehab will take care of the cost of vet visits (routine/emergency visits), prescription medications, and medical procedures needed for our Forever Fosters for the rest of their lives. We will ask that those applying to this program be able to cover day to day costs for the animals such as feed and hay as well as farrier care on a routine basis.
How It Works
- You must apply and be approved by Mules N More Rescue and Rehab.
- You must be willing to provide housing for these animals for the rest of their lives, no matter how long that may be.
- You must live within the service range of Tennessee Equine Hospital (North or Main location only).
- You must be able to commit the time necessary to take care of the animal(s) you are taking responsibility for. The animals in this program may have certain medical conditions that need extra consideration or effort from you. Be honest with us about what you think you can and cannot handle so we can help make the best match possible for everyone.
- You must be willing to be present on your property for farrier/veterinary appointments as scheduled (we will work with you to fit your availability).
- You must be willing to stay in very close communication with Mules N More Rescue and Rehab and our veterinarians. We ask for weekly messages and photos, as well as agreeing to visits from us monthly or however frequently we deem necessary.
- Animals that will be housed with other animal’s personally owned by Forever Fosters will be required to be up to date on vet visits/vaccines.
- You must be willing to sign and abide by Mules N More Rescue and Rehab’s Forever Foster Contract.
